The History of chocolates?
Have you ever wondered where personalized chocolates came from? The first records of chocolate as a food product can be traced back to Pre-Columbian Mexico. The Mayans and the Aztecs were said to produce a drink called "Xocoatll" from the beans of the cocoa tree. In 1528, the conquering Spaniards returned to Spain with chocolate as a beverage. The same chocolate drink was brought to a royal wedding in France in 1615. Chocolate found its way in England in 1662. It was Fry & Sons in England who introduced the first "eating chocolate" in 1847. But it did not catch much attention due to its bitter taste. Famed Swiss chocolateer Daniel Peter changed all that in 1874 when he experimented with several mixtures as a way of balancing the rough flavor of chocolate and he used milk. Since then chocolate became a widely accepted product.
From that time on, chocolates came in different varieties. Milk chocolate, which had at least 10% chocolate liquor and 12% milk solids combined with sugar, cocoa butter and vanilla.
