MANILA, Philippines — Branders.com, a Philippine-registered global promotional products company based in the Ortigas business district, retained its desired position as the best-paying employer in its business sector.
In the 2010 compensation and benefits study by human resources consultants Towers Watson, Branders.com still holds the top spot in the Business Process Outsourcing companies (BPOs) bracket.
“Branders.com was the clear winner in compensating its employees in salary, bonuses, and benefits,” stated the compensation study executive summary.
The study, which covered the annual base salaries, guaranteed fixed bonuses and benefits of employees in 12 BPO companies across 40 benchmark jobs, was conducted from June 2009 to July 2010. Seventy-five percent of these companies are American and Canadian in origin.
Technically, jobs at Branders.com are not classified as outsourced since employees render work for their own company, but the company was grouped with BPOs because it provides services using ICT systems and employees perform jobs in sync with US mainland office hours.
“It is our company policy to attract the best. Thus, we also want to give the best compensation package there is in this sector. We don’t want to be just number one, we want to be miles ahead of our nearest competitor,” explains Jerry McLaughlin, founding president of Branders.com. “And that can only be possible if we attract and retain the best talent.”
Branders.com’s total compensation for 18 of the 26 positions identified by Towers Watson was 60 percent higher on average than the second highest ranked company.
Sales representatives at Branders.com earned 56 percent higher than their counterparts in the second highest-paying company. Sales representatives who have stayed longer in Branders.com enjoyed a 58 percent margin over their counterparts in the second highest-paying company.
“Working as a sales representative at Branders.com is a lucrative long-term option,” the study specified and added that “multiple types of jobs across all pay graded tended to get better total compensation packages.”
Workers at Branders.com also enjoy fixed productivity-based incentives and bonuses, free catered food, 2-day weekends off as well as impressive health care benefits.
Branders is the world’s largest online seller of promotional products and over 97% of Fortune 500 companies have used Branders for its lowest prices and great customer service.
McLaughlin says that much of the company’s success can be attributed to the skills and positive work attitudes of Filipinos. “We have been constantly affirmed of our decision to set up the base of our operations in the Philippines,” he adds.
The company is expanding its Manila office, which is its hub for IT servicing, Account Management, Marketing and Design, Finance and Engineering. Its other offices are in the US, Mexico and Shanghai.
Joie Fuentes, Branders.com’s Director for Sales and Marketing, states the company is looking into increasing its sales staff this year due to optimistic growth projections. The projections are a result of the better than expected performance of the company in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Concluding its report, Towers Watson cited a recent industry study which predicted that in the next five years, the BPO industry in the Philippines could grow to $20 billion and 900,000 employees, or even to $25 billion and 1.3 million employees, providing rich new opportunities for jobseekers. “Our research suggests that within this dynamic sector, the most attractive work incentives can be found at Branders.com,” it stated
